Event highlights during the summer holidays in Berlin

If you’re spending your summer holidays in Berlin, you can look forward to a wide range of cultural, musical, family and open-air events. Between mid-July and the end of August in particular, the city is transformed into one huge event venue, with funfairs, festivals, open-air cinemas and holiday programmes. Here’s a small selection:

Berlin Summer Funfair

Numerous fairground attractions and much more draw visitors to the Berlin Summer Funfair – formerly the German-French Funfair – at the central fairground on Kurt-Schumacher-Damm.

Classic Open Air at the Gendarmenmarkt
9 to 14 July 2026
On four summer evenings, popular classical and modern melodies ring out under the starry sky on what is arguably Berlin’s most beautiful square.

Tegel Harbour Festival
16 to 19 July 2026
The Tegel Harbour Festival in Alt-Tegel, along the Greenwich Promenade, invites visitors to enjoy live music, fairground rides and a festive atmosphere.

Treptower Park Festival
24 to 26 July 2026
The Treptower Park Festival draws visitors to Treptower Park with a colourful programme of live music, food and drink, and hands-on activities for young and old alike.

Lollapalooza Festival
18 and 19 July 2026
The Lollapalooza Festival is coming to Berlin for the 11th time in 2026. With music, art, tasty treats and much more, it attracts thousands of visitors every year.

If you fancy a bit of relaxation in between, there are plenty of options, such as the lakes like the Wannsee or Müggelsee, a picnic on Tempelhofer Feld, a visit to the Tierpark and Zoo, or long bike rides through Berlin’s parks, woods or the surrounding countryside.
